WYES Hosts 5 Advanced Free Screenings Of ‘Downton Abbey’

NEW ORLEANS – As the “Downton Abbey” series comes to an end in January 2016, WYES-TV will present a several events celebrating the highest-rated drama in PBS history.

         In partnership with the following venues, WYES will host free screenings of the first hour of MASTERPIECE “Downton Abbey, Season 6” throughout the month of December:

         Fans of the series can look forward to more WYES “Downton Abbey” themed events now through March.

         In addition to the free screenings, WYES will present a tea at the home of Frances and Calvin Fayard in New Orleans on Thursday, January 14, 2016, and a farewell gala will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the home of Lisa and Tripp Ludwig in Metairie, LA.

         Keeping with the theme, WYES encourages all guests at all events to wear period attire.

 

         “Downton Abbey’s” Season 5 was seen by 25.5 million viewers, and Season 5 episodes were streamed more than 12.6 million times. The series has earned 51 Emmy® nominations, and has won 11 Emmys®, three Golden Globes®, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Producers Guild Award and three BAFTAs.

         WYES has partnered with Bayouland Tours who has created an exciting Chicago trip in April 2016 for fans of the series. Fly from New Orleans to Chicago and enjoy 3-nights in the Windy City. A tour highlight is a trip to see the "Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times” exhibit at The Richard H. Driehaus Museum.
