Women’s Equality Summit To Highlight Leadership, Diversity And Empowerment

NEW ORLEANS The New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI) and The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce have partnered to produce the first Annual Women’s Equality Summit.  The event will unify and empower women from around the Greater New Orleans Region to understand the history and context of the issues that have impacted the lives of women and to embrace a future that fully realizes the role of women in business, healthcare, politics, and growing the economy. Details were shared in a press release.

“Women have been fighting for equal footing throughout our country’s history,” said Rachel Nunez, Chair of the Women of NORLI and an organizer of the Summit.  “While monumental progress has been made and some glass ceilings broken, others remain.  Women trailblazers, some more well-known than others, have made extraordinary contributions to their communities.  This summit celebrates those women and recognizes the progress that has been made and continues to be made through the commitment and tenacity of women leaders fueled by purpose.”

The event will be held at the Windsor Court Hotel on Aug. 29, 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  It will feature three keynote speakers, four breakout sessions, breakfast, and lunch.  The breakout sessions will discuss women driving the economy, healthcare, diversity beyond gender, and building a political career and will feature some of the most prominent and influential women in the Greater New Orleans Region.  The featured keynote speakers will tackle a variety of topics from leadership and empowerment to emotional intelligence and diversity.  The event’s keynote speakers are Tania Tetlow, President of Loyola University; USAF Colonel Yvonne Spencer, Commander of the 819th Red Horse Squadron; and Dr. Joan Rosenberg, Psychologist and Author of 90 Seconds to a Life you Love.

“The Women of NORLI was created to provide women who choose courage in leadership the necessary resources and support to continue to grow both personally and professionally, enabling their paths to further develop,” said Rachel Nunez.  “Through unification, education, and empowerment, we are building up women leaders to overcome adversity, welcoming failure as an opportunity for growth, improving awareness and identity, and mending the inevitable heartbreaks endured while daring to be great.  As a NORLI alumna and Chair of the Women of NORLI, I am especially proud of programming such as the Women’s Equality Summit which will offer the public an opportunity to participate in equality, equity, and inclusion discussions that reexamine our current value proposition and provide a vision for how we can impact the future of our region.”
