Winn-Dixie Reveals Remodeled Store In Chalmette

Customers attending the ribbon cutting event on July 14 enjoyed performances by local musicians Amanda Shaw and Rockin’ Dopsie, and sampled delicious food from local vendors including Deep South Blenders, Community Coffee and Richard’s Sausage.

CHALMETTE, LA – Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, unveiled its newest remodeled store in Chalmette, LA, during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 3300 Paris Rd.

Winn-Dixie officially re-introduced the Chalmette community to the new store, its fresh new amenities and assortment of expanded departments, as well as new and local product offerings. The store reflects the grocer’s commitment to meeting the needs of the loyal customers in the Chalmette community, store reps said.

Winn-Dixie has served Chalmette residents for 30 years. Company reps said with a focus on great value, stunning quality food and serving with personality, the remodeled store has been tailored to reflect the true tastes of the Chalmette community. Winn-Dixie will continue to be the grocer shoppers can depend on for regional staples such as Blue Plate Mayonnaise, Community Coffee, Camellia Beans, Chisesi Brothers Ham, Double D Sausage and many other regional favorites, they said.

Anthony Hucker Chief Operating Officer of Southeastern Grocers said, “South Louisiana is a unique market with diverse communities such as Chalmette and we take pride in our 60 year history in Louisiana. We are excited to provide our customers the best the region has to offer including local favorites like Richard’s Sausage and fresh seafood from New Orleans Fish House.”

Store reps said the refreshed Chalmette Winn-Dixie offers new and improved enhancements including:

• New façade signage and a fresh, contemporary color palate

• New seafood department with fresh, local offerings including fresh Louisiana Seafood from New Orleans Fish House

• Updated farm-fresh produce department set on fresh ice daily featuring stunning-fresh quality produce from local farms

• Locally made grocery favorites like Richard’s Sausage and Chisesi Brothers Ham

• New Beer, Wine & Spirits shop with a variety of spirits from around the world featuring locally produced Bayou Rum

The Chalmette store is open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

During the renovation, Winn-Dixie contacted the St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) to provide various data points about St. Bernard as they neared the completion of the project to evaluate the current state of the market.

"Quality of life is a core part of our mission," said Andrew Jacques, executive director of SBEDF. "We're excited about Winn-Dixie's investment in our parish and the improvements our residents can enjoy thanks to this new investment by Southeastern Grocers."

Winn-Dixie's remodeling project is the second investment of 2016 in grocery stores in St. Bernard. In January, SBEDF welcomed a new Walmart Neighborhood Market to Meraux, adding 95 jobs to the economy.

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. is a subsidiary of Southeastern Grocers, which is the second-largest supermarket chain in the Southeast based on store count.
