This year the Cultural Exchange Pavilion will celebrate Cuba.
With Cuban rhythms as the heartbeat, Jazz Fest will honor New Orleans’ deep historical connections with Cuba by hosting one of the largest celebrations of Cuban culture in the U.S. since the 1950s.
The heart-jumping and rousing rhythm of the Conga Los Hoyos parade will take the dancing crowds around the Fair Grounds and to the Cultural Exchange Pavilion, the hub of the Cuban celebration. The Cultural Exchange Pavilion Stage will feature Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro, Telmary y Habana Sana, Grupo Caury, Conga Los Hoyos, and The Pedrito Martinez Group on the first weekend; and Septeto Santiaguero, Daymé Arocena, Adonis y Osain del Monte, Changüí Guantánamo, Conga Los Hoyos, and The Pedrito Martinez Rumba Project featuring Roman Diaz on the second weekend.
While in the Pavilion, meet Cuban master craftsmen and artists as they demonstrate their creative process. Photography and multimedia exhibits will offer additional insights into both contemporary and popular culture in Cuba.
For a complete Cuban experience, stop for tostones with mojo (fried green plantains with garlic sauce) and other delicious Cuban dishes served every day, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., at the Congreso Cubano food booth located right outside of the Pavilion.
Only a limited supplies of Jazz Fest's popular Big Chief VIP Experience, Grand Marshal VIP, and Krewe of Jazz Fest VIP passes remain. Advanced price general admission tickets are also still available. All VIP passes are on sale through www.Ticketmaster.com.
Jazz Fest also offers full-service travel packages for fans wishing to take the guesswork out of attending the event. Travel packages include hotel accommodations, travel to and from the Festival grounds, and Festival tickets, including the option for Festival VIP packages.
Jazz Fest has secured some of the best hotel rates available to Festival-goers, reps said, including at the Official Host Hotel, the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. Only a limited number of discounted rooms are being offered at each hotel.
