Running to catch that 6:50 a.m. nonstop Southwest flight to Las Vegas at MSY’s Concourse B, and need to grab a large hot Mocha Coffee at PJ's in a hurry?
Or, were you hoping to munch on some jambalaya at Copeland's Gourmet Kitchen when waiting for your Jet Blue flight to New York’s LaGuardia Airport at Concourse C?
Maybe you really wanted to bring an 8-piece boneless wings snack with a sauce and a side from Wow Café And Bar on board your departing United Airlines flight to Chicago, but the line was too long at the Concourse D eatery?
Grab, a new travel app launched yesterday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), makes mobile pre-ordering possible at the airport’s gate-side restaurants and retailers.
And Leslie’s List readers get 20% off their first Grab order by using promo code BIZNO.
So, if you’re pressed for time trying to buy when you fly, you can still get what you want at Dooky Chase and West Beignet, by skipping the lines to pick-up your order from a separate VIP to-go counter.
The new app that landed at MSY lets users, whether they’re waiting in a long security line or taxiing on the tarmac, explore menus, evaluate wait times, place and pre-pay for orders all from their smartphone. Grab also drives additional revenue to airport businesses by capturing sales traditionally lost due to passenger time constraints.
“We are excited to extend Grab’s mobile capabilities to passengers traveling through the New Orleans area,” said Mark Bergsrud, CEO of Grab. “It is our aim to improve the airport travel experience. We are giving passengers the resources they need to save time, and easily find the amenities they need when they need them.”
With launch partner Delaware North, Grab, the largest e-commerce platform in U.S. airports, is enabling passengers at MSY to save time by placing and pre-paying for pick-up orders at restaurants including:
• Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro Scoop Cafe
• Copeland's Gourmet Kitchen
• Dooky Chase
• Le Petit Bistro/ PJ's Coffee
• PJ's Coffee
• West Beignet
• Wow Cafe and Bar
• Ye Olde College Inn Restaurant and Bar
• Zatarain's
“Grab is the ideal partner to launch mobile ordering for our airport restaurants in New Orleans,” said Kevin Kelly, President of Delaware North Travel Hospitality Services. “We have seen great success with the platform in other markets, and look forward to continuing the momentum as we roll-out the service through the rest of the network.”
Grab reps said their app creates a “path to a great airport experience” by modernizing airport travel, providing passengers with on-demand resources, curating the restaurant, retail and service options available in their airport terminals, enhancing customer choice and eliminating extensive wait times.
Grab finds restaurants convenient to you along your route through the airport based on your preferences. The info includes real-time turnaround times and ratings, you can even set your “favorites” and Grab reminds you the next time you’re near them.
You can customize your order, input saved credit card information for express pay, use Apple Pay and Google Wallet, and soon users will be able to pay with points.
Grab lets you order now, holds the order, reminds you about it when you’re at the airport, helps navigate you to the restaurant location and notifies you when your order is ready for pick-up.
Grab currently offers mobile ordering at 27 restaurants in Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Austin–Bergstrom International Airport. Yesterday’s launch in New Orleans coincided with the introduction of Grab mobile ordering at Denver International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Combined, these locations bring another 25 airport restaurants into the network, making mobile ordering available at 52 airport restaurants across all markets.
The company is rapidly expanding its base, with more than 200 restaurant partners across 17 airports slated to launch the mobile ordering platform in the next few months. In addition to mobile ordering, Grab also offers directories at more than 40 airports nationwide for users to search restaurants, retailers and services conveniently located in their terminals.
Grab’s on-demand mobile ordering platform includes:
• SDK available to embed in popular travel apps
• Incremental revenue stream
• Greater app utility and customer experience
• Valuable data and insights
• Loyalty currency redemption platform
• Automated IRROP voucher process
