UnitedHealth Group to Wrap Up Free COVID-19 Testing in Orleans Parish
NEW ORLEANS – After administering free tests for the past two months, the two free COVID-19 testing sites currently operated by UnitedHealth Group in Orleans Parish at City of Love Church and St. Mary of the Angels will cease operation this month. The testing site at City of Love Church will close Wednesday, Sept. 2. The testing site at St. Mary of the Angels will close Saturday, Sept. 12
In addition to non-invasive nasal swab testing, the free, walk-up, COVID-19 testing sites provided wraparound services, including health and safety kits, food boxes, housing information, employment information, and information on other social services. Services offered are based on the need in each location and will continue through each site’s closing date.
UnitedHealth Group has worked with urgency, since the sites officially opened to the public on July 7, to serve the needs of vulnerable communities, especially minority communities in Orleans Parish, who are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
Testing remains available through closing dates at the following locations:
- Tests at City of Love Church, 8601 Palmetto St., will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday through Sept. 2. No daily cap on tests. Tuesday hours 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday hours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Tests at St. Mary of the Angels, 2225 Congress St., will be available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through Sept. 12. No daily cap on tests. Thursday hours: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday hours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
