TruFund Financial Services, Inc. Launches ‘Women in Business: An EmpowHERment Program’

NEW ORLEANS – TruFund Financial Services, Inc. partnered with Regions Bank, on Saturday, Aug. 19, to host an invitational brunch to kick off the Women in Business: An EmpowHERment Program. The national program is specifically tailored to female entrepreneurs in each of TruFund's three markets (Louisiana, Alabama and New York) who want to learn innovative and cutting-edge ways to grow and further develop their businesses.

The EmpowHERment invitational brunch took place at Café Reconcile in New Orleans from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participating women business owners had the opportunity to hear about the training program and fill out an application to be selected to participate.

With more than 9 million women-owned businesses nationwide, American women are steadily stepping up and taking the lead in business ownership, TruFund reps said. In 2016, a study showed that women-owned businesses were growing at a rate 1.5 times faster than the national average with the state of Louisiana ranking No. 7 for women entrepreneurs.

"We are excited to partner with Regions Bank to launch this program and have the opportunity to provide a select group of women with the necessary tools and information to grow their businesses," said Myla R. Poree, vice president and managing director of Louisiana for TruFund Financial Services, Inc. "Investing in women-owned businesses represents an investment in the communities they serve."

TruFund's Women in Business Program will conclude with the EmpowHERment Summit luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 26, where participants will be presented with awards and hear from keynote speaker Sable Badaki of SheWorks, Inc. Tickets for this event will be available and open to the public.

"This program is a great resource for women entrepreneurs to learn how to grow their businesses with a tailored curriculum designed to meet their needs," said LaShaunda P. Rene', program manager. "Helping small, minority and women-owned businesses has always been a priority for TruFund and we look forward to continuing that work through our Women in Business platform."
