Travel Companies TripAdvisor, Priceline Detail Partnership

NEEDHAM, MA (AP) – Shares of TripAdvisor jumped Wednesday after the travel website operator announced it has worked out a deal with The Priceline Group that will put several Priceline brands on TripAdvisor's instant booking platform.

         TripAdvisor said it has started working to add Priceline Group hotels onto its instant booking platform that already carries 235,000 properties. It also plans to add Priceline's Booking.com, prieline.com and Agoda.com brands.

         The instant booking feature allows travelers to see listings and book on TripAdvisor directly.

         Terms were not disclosed in Wednesday's statement.

         TripAdvisor runs websites under 23 brands, including aifarewatchdog.com, bookingbuddy.com and cruisecritic.com.

         Shares of Needham, Massachusetts-based TripAdvisor Inc. soared more than 24 percent, or $16.27, to $82.96 in Tuesday afternoon trading, while broader indexes were mixed. Norwalk, Connecticut-based The Priceline Group Inc. dropped nearly 2 percent, or $26.20, to $1,318.80.
