Tiger Athletic Foundation Recognizes Metairie Scholarship Endowment Donor

BATON ROUGE – On Sunday, March 5, Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) recognized donor, Kelly Spears of Metairie, Louisiana, and her family for their recent donation to the TAF Foundation of Champions Scholarship Endowment program.
A presentation to acknowledge Spears took place during Sunday’s LSU Gymnastics meet at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Spears and her family were recognized by LSU Head Gymnastics Coach, D-D Breaux, TAF Executive Vice President and General Counsel, David Hardy, and TAF Director of Major Gifts, Michael Oblinger, and presented with a framed plaque.
Spears has previously supported LSU student-athletes through giving to TAF and has shown a special interest in the education of student-athletes. The Jones-Spears Family Scholarship represents the fifth endowment committed to the LSU Gymnastics program.
“The reason I support LSU Athletics and in particular this gymnastics scholarship is because these amazing girls are my daughter's role models,” Spears said. “These student athletes will be the future leaders of our communities and I want to support them in fulfilling their dreams.”
TAF is a private, nonprofit, corporation dedicated to supporting LSU and its Athletic Program. TAF is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Over the past 30 years, TAF’s members have enhanced the lives of every student-athlete on every team by providing financial support for programs and facilities that ensure the opportunity to win in the classroom, on the field, and in life, TAF reps said.
