NEW ORLEANS – The National WWII Museum will host the 11th International Conference on World War II in New Orleans from Thursday, Nov. 29, to Saturday, Dec. 1. Presented by The Pritzker Military Museum & Library and The Pritzker Military Foundation, this year’s three-day event will feature a pre-conference symposium exploring the legacies, leadership lessons and tactics of World War I and how it affected World War II. The announcement was made in a press release.

The premier educational gathering of top writers, scholars and enthusiasts will include over 30 speakers discussing topics ranging from Operation Market-Garden, an unsuccessful military operation fought in the Netherlands, to the battles of Peleliu and the Huertgen Forest to underappreciated WWII campaigns

The lineup of prominent historians and best-selling WWII authors features Rick Atkinson, Sir Antony Beevor, James Holland, Keith Lowe, Margaret MacMillan and Robert Citino. The conference will also include a special presentation on the Normandy landings from Museum President & CEO Emeritus Gordon H. “Nick” Mueller, PhD.

“It’s a great privilege to host prestigious historians and WWII enthusiasts annually at our International Conference on World War II – an ideal space for both groups to come together and examine the war that changed our history,” said Stephen J. Watson, President & CEO at The National WWII Museum. “This year’s conference will broaden the scope of learning to also offer participants a unique look at World War I, and we’re excited to hear from renowned speakers who will explore its influences on post-war political structures, as well as the similarities between both global conflicts.”

The three-day conference will offer an exclusive Museum open house and evening reception during which the institution’s galleries will be available for touring. Participants will also enjoy a closing banquet dinner and keynote address from Andrew Roberts focusing on his new book about Winston Churchill. For more information, or to register for the conference and/or symposium, visit www.ww2conference.com or call 504-528-1944 ext 511.

The National WWII Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that future generations will know the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.
