NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Theatre Association will present the New Orleans premiere of DR. SEUSS’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL at The Saenger Theatre from Nov. 22 – 27, 2016.

Hailed by The New York Times as “100 times better than any bedside story,” this extended holiday run of a classic musical will enchant adults and children alike as part of the East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans 2016 – 2017 season with ten magical performances, Association reps said.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.

Tickets for THE GRINCH start at $26.25 and will be available at the Saenger Theatre Box Office, 1111 Canal St.,, all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (800) 982-2787. Group sales are offered for groups of 10 or more and will be available by calling (504) 287-0372.

THE GRINCH broke box office records for two consecutive years on Broadway during its holiday engagements at the St. James and Hilton theaters in New York. Since then, more than 1.8 million theater-goers across America have been delighted by this heartwarming holiday musical, which Gannett papers hailed as “A genius of a show! A total delight for both kids and adults.”

The touring companies of THE GRINCH are celebrating several special milestones this holiday season. 2016 marks the tenth anniversary of the show’s debut on Broadway and the 50th anniversary of the original broadcast of the animated television classic Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas!, which originally aired on CBS Dec. 18, 1966.

Audiences will discover the magic of Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale as it comes to life live on stage. Featuring the hit songs “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas,” THE GRINCH discovers there is more to Christmas than he bargained for. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the holiday-loving Whos.

DR. SEUSS’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL features sets designed by John Lee Beatty and costumes designed by Robert Morgan, inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original book. Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason’s music and book breathe new life into this timeless story.

The 2016 production is directed by Matt August and choreographed by Bob Richard, based on the original choreography by John DeLuca and originally created by three-time Tony Award® winning director Jack O’Brien.
