NEW ORLEANS – Equest Farm will host the 12th annual “Tails But No Black Tie” fundraiser on Saturday, April 22, in New Orleans City Park at 1001 Filmore Ave. at Marconi Drive.

The annual "Tails" is a unique equestrian evening of elegant fun with all profits donated to Friends of City Park. Patrons will see USEF Champion Jumpers and World Class riders execute jumps with speed and precision in the exciting Grand Prix competing for $10,000 in prize money.

Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. for viewing the horses and visiting with riders, the grandstand will open at 6:00 p.m. and the Grand Prix activities start at 7:00 p.m.

The Grand Prix ring activities begin with a performance by special guest Guy McLean, Australian Horseman, entertainer and Bush poet, and his team of Australian bred ‘Quietway’ performance horses followed by the jumper competition.

VIP Grandstand Patrons will enjoy a private pre-event cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres, a catered dinner, open bar, entertainment by the Tom Fisher Jazz Ensemble, participation in the auction to win a rug donated by NOLA Rugs, and up-close ringside viewing of the Grand Prix, event reps said.

Grandstand ticket holders will also be able to join the competition by betting on which horse and rider team will win the jump off in New Orleans’ Only Grand Prix Calcutta, which offers participants the chance to bet on the winning horse and rider and win the top prize of 10 percent of the bidding pot.

General admission tickets offer families and individuals access to view the horses and riders prior to the competition, concessions and a variety of fun equestrian activities, along with a ringside view of the Grand Prix.

Grandstand tickets cost $175 per person, and general admission tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children over the age of 4 (minimum admission age).
