Stennis Group Gets $500,000 to Promote Marine Tech

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (AP) — The U.S. Small Business Administration is giving $523,742 to promote employment in marine sciences along the Gulf Coast.
The money is going to the Mississippi Enterprise for Technology, a nonprofit group that promotes business activity at NASA's Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis
The SBA money will promote a marine industries science and technology cluster along Interstate 10 in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
The cluster will help promote marine technology and oceanography research already taking place at Stennis, seeking to create new jobs, promote cooperation among existing groups, attract new investment and make technology more marketable.
More than 5,000 people work for all employers housed at Stennis.
