StayLocal To Host Business-Themed Trivia Night To Promote The ‘Power Of Local’

NEW ORLEANS – StayLocal, Greater New Orleans’ independent business alliance, will present “Know-It-All Trivia Night & Biz Showcase” on Thursday, July 27, at the Wayward Owl Brewing Company, 3940 Thalia St., from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for networking and the trivia competition begins at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

The trivia will test your knowledge of all things business from historic New Orleans companies, to professional etiquette, to national economic trends. There will be prizes, music, food by La Monita food truck, networking and a business-to-business (B2B) showcase.

“What better way for independent businesses to connect than teaming up to prove they know-it-all about New Orleans local economy,” says Meredith Cherney, event organizer and StayLocal program manager. “Know-It-All Night is for those who love all things local. From banking, accounting and web design to background checks and payroll providers, New Orleans has many local service providers. This event aims to raise the profile of these businesses and link residents and other businesses with the local resources they need to grow.”

The trivia competition and B2B showcase are the culmination of StayLocal’s SourceNOLA Pledge, a summer-long campaign encouraging businesses to switch at least one aspect of their operations over to a local service provider. When businesses employ the local knowledge base, the region generates more dollars, jobs, and opportunities in the community, reps said.

Through SourceNOLA, StayLocal aims to better connect business owners to local resources in New Orleans and raise awareness about the ways businesses can better engage with their local economy.

The SourceNOLA Pledge is: “I promise to examine my business’ sourcing and service providers to identify ‘leaks’ where dollars and opportunities are leaving my community. Using this knowledge, I will explore local alternatives and make an effort to shift at least one aspect of my business operations to a local provider.”

StayLocal reps said the event is made possible by the support of IBERIABANK, Xplore Federal Credit Union, LCI Workers Compensation, LCIA, Aquiana Springs, Raised Visual Media and the Urban Conservancy as well as partners Gambit and Wayward Owl Brewing Company.
