State Rep. Katrina Jackson Honored By State Physicians Group

MONROE, LA – State Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-16) was recently named Legislator of the Year by the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, the first time the organization has ever issued such an award.

         At the LAFP meeting, Dr. Thair Qayyum, a resident of the Monroe area, was elected vice president of the organization.

         "I'm truly honored to receive this award from the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, and to be the first-ever recipient of such a title," Jackson said. "I'm equally pleased that my friend and supporter Dr. Qayyum was elected Vice President of this outstanding professional organization."

         Jackson said she has been a stalwart supporter of public health and access to healthcare in District 16 and throughout Louisiana.

         "I'm not just excited by this award for myself, but for the people of Northeast Louisiana," Jackson said. "Dr. Qayyum and I are both dedicated to the betterment of our communities and to ensuring solid healthcare delivery to the people of our region. I look forward to continuing my service to the people of Louisiana."
