Southern Parents & Teachers Federal Credit Union Accepting Donations For Injured Southern University Football Player
NEW ORLEANS – Southern University (SU) wide receiver Devon Gales sustained a severe spinal injury Saturday, September 26, 2015, during the SU versus University of Georgia football game in Athens, GA.
Gales was transferred to the Shepherd Center Spinal Cord Injury Unit in Atlanta, GA, for evaluation, care and observation. He is expected to remain at the Shepard Center for at least eight weeks.
“Devon has a long road ahead of him,” FCU President and CEO Eldridge Etienne said. “Southern Parents & Teachers FCU wants to support the fund that was established by the SU System Foundation and remind Devon that the entire Southern University family is behind him during his recovery. We continue to keep the young athlete in our prayers.”
SU Athletics and SU System Foundation have established The Devon Gales Fund in an effort to provide financial assistance to Gales and his family to cover medical expenses. On behalf of the foundation, Southern Parents & Teachers Federal Credit Union (FCU) is accepting contributions for The Devon Gales Fund. Members are allowed to donate in person at any credit union branch or at any shared branching location.
The Devon Gales Fund is the official fundraising platform of Southern University and A&M College.
