SBEDF Recognizes Southern Services & Equipment, Inc. On National ‘Manufacturing Day’

ST. BERNARD, LA – Southern Services & Equipment, Inc. (SSE), located in lower St. Bernard, has positioned itself to lead the region in custom steel fabrication with the installation of revolutionary robotic technology, company reps said. SSE’s newly installed PythonX Robotic Structural Fabrication System is one of three hundred systems in operation globally, poising the company for exponential growth.
In conjunction with National Manufacturing Day, The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) recognizes SSE as an asset to the parish and a crucial company in meeting the future needs of the manufacturing industry. Nationally, the manufacturing industry is challenged with a skilled labor shortage that will struggle to meet the demands of an expanding economy with an aging workforce. National Manufacturing Day aims to address misconceptions about the industry, and ensure a long term, prosperous future for U.S. manufacturers.
“Having companies like SSE investing in cutting-edge technology positions Greater New Orleans to lead in future job creation in the modern manufacturing sector” explained Andrew Jacques, SBEDF Executive Director.
SSE founder and CEO, Marc A. Nunez said making investments in emerging technologies is not only an investment in the business, but also an investment in the community. “We are now poised for even more growth, which will have a ripple effect in the region,” he said. “We are very proud to call St. Bernard Parish home for the past 20 years.”
SSE is focused on having a greater presence in the region including contributions to the expansion of the Rampart Streetcar Line, company reps said. The company has also been selected for the Spring 2017 cohort of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program. As SSE prepares for increased business development, Chief Operating Officer, Justin Airhart, believes SSE’s newest machinery will distinguish them as a leading fabricator in Southeast Louisiana.
“Our new PythonX gives us a distinct competitive advantage over other fabricators in the region by eliminating countless hours of material handling normally required between processing operations,” said Airhart. “This equipment really brings steel fabrication into the 21st century.”
The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2005 to retain and create jobs, build prosperity, and improve the quality of life in St. Bernard Parish. SBEDF's work is made possible through the general support of its investors, St. Bernard Parish Government, St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District, the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation, Cox Communications, Chalmette Refining and Valero at the Impact Champion Level, the Law Offices of Sidney Torres, III and Associated Terminals at the Pillars Level, and Palmisano Group and Meyer Engineers at the Community Leaders Level.
