Royal Sonesta New Orleans Names Mata Director Of Catering And Convention Services

NEW ORLEANS — The newly renovated, landmark hotel Royal Sonesta New Orleans has hired Kathy Mata as its director of catering and convention services. Mata’s addition to the Sonesta team brings a wealth of expertise, including more than a decade of experience in catering and convention services and management, hotel reps said. Throughout her professional career, Mata has been responsible for bringing to life some of the most exceptional galas hosted in New Orleans.
In new her role, Mata will manage staff and also oversee, coordinate and execute services and logistics for groups and organizations holding meetings, conventions, conferences and other on-property events at Royal Sonesta New Orleans. This includes overseeing and transforming the hotel’s newly redesigned Grand Ballroom, which will serve as ground zero for a myriad of uniquely memorable events and occasions.
Mata joins Royal Sonesta New Orleans after most recently serving in the role of associate director of events at Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Prior to her time at Hyatt, Mata held positions as senior events manager at JW Marriott in New Orleans and as convention services manager at Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

Located in the heart of the French Quarter at 300 Bourbon St., the hotel this year completed the redesign of its 483 guestrooms and 36 suites this year, as well as very recently reimagining and unveiling its Grand Ballroom.
The hotel is home to several dining and entertainment venues, including Restaurant R’evolution, Bar R’evolution, The Jazz Playhouse, Desire Oyster Bar, Le Booze and PJ’s Coffee Café. In addition, Royal Sonesta New Orleans offers 20,000 square feet of meeting and special event space.
