Riess Lemieux Welcomes Michael Blackwell to the Firm

NEW ORLEANS — Riess LeMieux has welcomed Michael Blackwell to the firm as Of Counsel in New Orleans. Blackwell brings additional depth of experience and expertise to the firm’s growing practice in construction law, commercial litigation, and transactional matters. Details were shared in a press release.
Blackwell has more than ten years of experience and focuses his practice in Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, Governmental Contracts and Surety Law, and Real Estate Law. He regularly lectures on construction- related topics for industry and legal education groups, as well as for clients. Blackwell has served for several years as the Chair of the Construction Law Committee for the New Orleans Bar Association.
Blackwell represents a variety of clients, ranging from general contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, insurers, and sureties in construction and labor issues, to companies involved in sales, acquisitions, corporate governance matters, commercial disputes, and other challenges arising in the commercial arena.
He has engaged in significant contract negotiation, corporate formation, structuring, and governance matters, sales and acquisitions of assets and ownership interests, contract negotiation and drafting, construction disputes involving delays, terminations for default, payment, asset seizure, fraud, labor and employment issues, and a variety of other disputes that arise during construction.
Blackwell graduated from University of South Alabama with a degree in English. He attended Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he was a member of the Loyola Law Review and served as the managing editor. Blackwell was also a member of the Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Moot Court Team as a Brief Writer/ Oralist. Michael was recognized as a William L. Crowe Senior Scholar.
