Regional Health System Welcomes Human Resources VP

LAFAYETTE, LA – Candice Chopin recently took the helm as Vice President of Human Resources for both Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

         In the role, Chopin provides strategic Human Resources support to leaders and employees while creating a desired workplace culture and a productive workforce.

         “My goal is to redefine the Human Resources function through strategic planning,” Chopin said, “and to have the Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Women’s & Children’s Hospital become the facilities of choice for employees, patients and physicians.”

         A 2004 graduate of Ville Platte High School, Chopin graduated four years later from UL Lafayette with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She joined the Human Resources team at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia in January 2008 as an intern and rose to the role of Human Resources Director within three short years.

         Chopin moved to the role of Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, FL, in April 2013. She returned to Acadiana as Human Resources Director for Regional Medical Center and Women’s & Children’s Hospital in October 2014 before taking the helm recently as Vice President of Human Resources for the two facilities.

         The Regional Health System of Acadiana is a family of complementary and affiliated healthcare facilities that comprise the The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Women’s & Children’s Hospital, a campus of The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. The Health System represents one of the largest concentrations of healthcare providers and services in Acadiana, employing about 1,100 healthcare professionals. The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Women’s & Children’s Hospital have a combined 266 licensed beds, 51 NICU beds and 45 bassinets. In addition, three Lafayette-area outpatient facilities are affiliated with the system: the Elaine M. Junca Women’s Imaging Centre, Lafayette Surgicare and Regional Walk In Clinic on the Boulevard. The system also employs 21 multi-specialty physicians in 15 practices.
