Reconstruction Of 100 Block Of Bourbon Street Begins Today, Traffic Rerouted

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, will re-route riverbound traffic from the 100 block of Bourbon Street starting today, Monday, April 24, at 8:00 a.m. to accommodate reconstruction of the roadway and its underground utilities.
The closure on Bourbon Street will extend from Canal Street to halfway into the intersection at Iberville Street and should last for approximately 60-75 days.
Drivers may use Decatur or N. Rampart streets as alternate routes to reach their destinations. City reps said residents and commuters should use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this construction site.
The $6 million French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project, which is part of the Citywide Public Safety Improvement Program, calls for removing and replacing existing water and drainage lines, repairing the sewer line, repaving the roadway in concrete, installing new sidewalks when necessary, and installing American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
