OPSB, Recovery School District To Introduce School Unification Advisory Committee

NEW ORLEANS – The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) and Recovery School District (RSD) will address the return of Orleans Parish schools following the passing of SB 432, and introduce the Unification Advisory Committee during a press conference Thursday, May 12, 2016., at the Andrew Wilson Charter School library, 3617 General Pershing St., at 10:00 a.m.

         Hosted by OPSB Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis Jr. and RSD Superintendent Patrick Dobard, the event will also include OPSB President Seth Bloom, education leaders and other school unification advocates as speakers.

         On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the Louisiana Senate gave final approval for SB 432, authorizing the return of publicly funded schools in Orleans Parish to the OPSB by July 1, 2018.
