Nominations Open for UNO25, the University’s Celebration of High-Impact Alumni Businesses

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans (UNO) is now accepting nominations and applications for “UNO25”, an initiative that identifies, recognizes and celebrates 25 high-impact businesses that are owned or led by alumni of the University. Details were shared in a press release.

Applications and nominations must be received by Sunday, June 30. Representatives from the selected businesses will be honored at a luncheon at The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans on January 16, 2020.

“The influence of our alumni in the city and the region is pervasive,” said UNO president John Nicklow. “This initiative is a way for us to highlight the leadership, determination and innovation of our graduates in a number of different fields. It reinforces the value of a UNO degree and the diverse talent and prominence of our alumni.”

The inaugural class of “UNO25” was honored on Jan. 23, 2018 at a luncheon attended by more than 300 people at The Roosevelt New Orleans. Honorees represented fields including engineering, accounting, media, real estate, banking, healthcare, fitness and economic development.

“Our inaugural event was such a huge celebration of Privateer pride,” said Nicklow. “The feeling of connection and camaraderie among everyone in that room was palpable and exciting. I am eager to celebrate another 25 businesses that are creating economic development in their communities and making their mark in their own unique way.”

When taken in tandem with the adjacent UNO Research & Technology Park, the University of New Orleans is responsible for nearly $1 billion in annual economic activity. It has more than 75,000 alumni across the globe, including more than 47,000 in metro New Orleans alone.
