NOLA Brewing Co. To Launch Distillery

NEW ORLEANS – Kirk Coco, President and Founder of New Orleans Lager and Ale (NOLA) Brewing Company announced plans to launch a craft distillery. The Distillery, which has been incorporated as New Orleans Libations and Alcohol (NOLA) Distilling Company, LLC will begin operations as soon as permitting has been finalized, which could be as early as October 2015.

No stranger to the start-up world, Coco believes there is an opportunity to establish a locally owned and operated craft distillery in New Orleans. The Crescent City is known as the birthplace of the cocktail, Coco said, yet it’s only home to a handful of craft spirit distillers. Coco said he wants to change that, by making hand crafted, high quality spirits in New Orleans for New Orleans.

Joining the NOLA Distilling Team as Chief Operating Officer is Andy Kutcher, a New Orleans native with a background in digital marketing. Most recently, Kutcher was the Director of Social Media at FSC Interactive, a nationally award winning digital agency. Kutcher also led NOLA Brewing’s marketing efforts from 2009-2012.

David Bock, formerly with Celebration Distillation, will join as Head Distiller. Bock started distilling with Celebration Distillation in 2013 but has always had a passion for alcohol production. The act of sipping whiskey and other spirits after dinner with family and friends served as a great bonding experience for Bock, and was part of what inspired him to follow the passion of creating hand-crafted spirits.

NOLA Distilling plans to release three initial products – Vodka, Gin and White Whiskey – though the details of each product are still being worked out and tested. “We don’t want to release something that isn’t the absolute best,” Bock said. “We are aiming to create premiere products for consumption.”
