New York Times Best Selling Author Jay Asher To Visit Sci High

NEW ORLEANS – Young adult fiction author Jay Asher, whose “Thirteen Reasons Why” reached #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list, will make one stop in New Orleans today, visiting the New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School, Sci High, 5625 Loyola Ave., New Orleans, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

         He will be reading and speaking on selections from his book “Thirteen Reasons Why,” and donating books to the students as part of his 50-state anti-bullying tour.

         “Thirteen Reasons Why,” is the story of a teenage girl named Hannah Baker who takes her own life, but, before she does, records several cassette tapes explaining why and sends them to the people she feels pushed her towards suicide.

         Asher plans to talk to local teens about how actions affect others, how to take responsibility for actions, to be kind to each other and that everyone matters.

         “Thirteen Reasons Why,” which was first published by Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers Group, in 2007, has become a publishing phenomenon. The book has spent more than 163 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, has been published in 35 countries, and has more than 2.1 million copies in print in the United States.
