NEW ORLEANS — From the New Orleans Women’s and Children’s Shelter:

In support of homeless fathers, the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter (NOWCS) is hosting a Father’s Day Sock Drive from June 13 to June 17 to raise awareness of the plight of homelessness among men with children. Members of the public are invited to donate men’s socks of all sizes or underwear and personal hygiene items, some of the most requested items among homeless shelters across the country.

Donations can be made through Amazon Smile by clicking here:

“This Father’s Day, we are reminded of the homeless among us who are also fathers,” said Dawn Bradley-Fletcher, executive director of NOWCS. “We hope our Sock Drive will spread the news of our mission to break the cycle of homelessness and keep families together, while offering the comforts of home.”

Since 2016, the NOWCS has supported and served not only women and children but intact homeless families and men with children.

NOWCS is celebrating its fifteenth year serving the New Orleans community. As the only homeless shelter for intact families, and the largest shelter for women and children, NOWCS remains committed to serving homeless families through coordinated support and services. In addition to housing, these services include educational enrichment for parents and children, employment assistance, job training and placement, financial literacy workshops and much more.
