New Orleans' Three Omni Hotels & Resorts, Second Harvest Food Bank ‘Say Goodnight To Hunger!’
NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans’ three Omni hotels—Omni Royal Orleans, Omni Riverfront and Omni Royal Crescent—will make a donation to Second Harvest Food Bank for every stay booked directly through the brand’s website, Omnihotels.com, as part of Omni Hotels & Resorts’ Say Goodnight to Hunger! initiative. Each booking will provide a family of four dinner for an entire week.
The campaign, launched in June 2016, benefits Feeding America® and local members, like Second Harvest Food Bank, in 42 communities where Omni Hotels & Resorts’ 60 properties are located. The initiative aims to provide more than 18.2 million meals each year for food banks to feed kids, families and seniors in communities across the United States. Omni Hotels & Resorts associates also will give their time and talent to volunteer at food banks in their local communities to the company’s mission to make a meaningful difference in local communities across the country.
Omni Royal Orleans will serve lunch Tuesday, August 16, 2016, to 150 people at The New Orleans Mission as part of the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association (GNOHLA) Feed the Need NOLA program. Feed the Need NOLA, GNOHLA’s latest program designed to give back and fill a need within the New Orleans community, will serve up to 200 meals per week through a partnership among lodging industry partners to help both The New Orleans Mission and St. Jude Community Center save thousands on food costs annually.
One in six households in Louisiana is at risk of hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank reps said. Through food distribution programs, community kitchen meal service, nutritional education and public benefits assistance, Second Harvest Food Bank helps ensure that these meals make it to the dinner tables of thousands of families struggling with hunger in South Louisiana.
“The majority of people Second Harvest feeds have one or two people in the household who are working low-income jobs,” said Dennis Pearse, Omni Royal Orleans general manager. “We’re grateful for the opportunity we have to help support families who are struggling to make ends meet through the Say Goodnight to Hunger program.”
