Aug. 5 – Aug. 8. – BAPTISTS – KATRINA — 250 Baptist volunteers from 28 churches, colleges and universities in 20 states and Puerto Rico volunteer in New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward to mark 10 years since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Location: 5620 Florida Ave., New Orleans.

Aug. 5 – GOVERNOR'S ADVISORY COMMISSION — The Governor's Advisory Commission meets, 10:00 a.m. Location: Vermilion Parish Library, 405 E. Saint Victor St.

Aug. 5 – DARDENNE – STATE PARK — Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and the Office of State Parks host an open house to showcase the newly renovated cabins at Fontainebleu State Park.
