Thursday, Aug. 31 – Tropical Depression Harvey forecast to continue moving inland into the U.S., hitting states around Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Harvey, previously a major Category 4 hurricane, first made landfall in Texas last Friday night, bringing 'catastrophic and life-threatening' flooding, leaving at least 31 people dead and thousands in need of rescue. Over the next few days, storm expected to continue on a path into states around Tennessee and Kentucky. Two explosions have been reported at Arkema chemical plant at Crosby near Houston, which lost its ability to refrigerate chemical compounds that need to be kept cool once it was evacuated

Saturday, Sep. 2 – President Donald Trump makes a second trip to Texas, and possibly Louisiana as well, in the wake of flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey. He and First Lady Melania Trump visited Corpus Christi and Austin, TX, earlier in the week. Harvey made landfall along the Gulf Coast as a Category 4 hurricane Aug. 25 before being downgraded to a tropical storm Aug. 26, then was projected to move on a path up through the U.S. over the course of last week, as a tropical depression. The U.S. National Weather Service tweeted Aug. 27 that conditions were 'unprecedented.'
