NEW ORLEANS POLICE – PROMOTIONS — NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison will promote 25 officers to supervisor positions at police districts across the city. The promotion ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the NOPD Training Academy, located at 2045 Lakeshore Dr.


July 24-26 – JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES — An estimated 14,300 Jehovah's Witnesses — 96 congregations from south Louisiana and Mississippi — are expected to attend their annual convention. Anyone may attend, free. Place: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans.


July 24-26 – SCLC CONVENTION — The Southern Christian Leadership Council holds its 57th National Convention in Baton Rouge through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. Location: Hilton Hotel, 201 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge.

July 24-25 – MILLENNIAL AWARDS — The third annual Millennial Awards and Social Renaissance event takes place Friday and Saturday at the National World War II Museum, located at 945 Magazine St. in New Orleans. The event includes two panel discussions on Friday, July 24, from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the museum's Stage Door Canteen. The restaurant competition and awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 25 from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at the Freedom Pavilion. The awards ceremony will honor millennials in 21 diverse categories.




July 25 – OFFICER – MEMORIAL — A public viewing and memorial mass will be held for New Orleans Police Officer Vernell Brown Jr., who died from injuries sustained while working in the line of duty.
