National Association of Black Accountants Opens Scholarship Application Process

NEW ORLEANS – Since its inception, NABA, Inc. has provided more than $11.1 million in scholarship funds to deserving students preparing to enter the accounting, finance or business professions. In the past three fiscal years (FY2016, FY2017 and FY2018), NABA has awarded more than $295,000 and an average of 50 national scholarships annually.
The organization's national scholarship program application is now available. Student members on record as of Monday, Dec. 13, 2018, may apply from now through Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm EST.
Applicants must be African-American (Black) or of African descent; an ACTIVE NABA student member, whose membership dues have been received by NABA's national headquarters in Maryland by Monday, Dec. 31; and enrolled at a four-year US college or university as a full-time undergraduate or full-time graduate student majoring in accounting, finance, or business. They must also meet the minimum required grade point average of 3.5 in their major, and 3.3 overall.
"NABA has really been the life blood a lot of times of my career, so if it wasn't for participating as well as winning the scholarship and having the opportunity to go to the student conferences and network and meet these professionals my career would not be – I wouldn't even know where I would be." Kristina Williams, former NABA Scholarship recipient.
Scholarships range from $1500 to $5000.
