Mayor Landrieu To Kick Off 2016 Summer Programs At St. Bernard Recreation Center

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu along with City officials, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) and community partners and sponsors will celebrate the start of NORDC’s 2016 summer programming at the newly renovated St. Bernard Recreation Center, at 1500 Lafreniere St., at 10:30 a.m.

         The $1.1 million project includes a complete redesign to accommodate additional space for arts and crafts, a new fitness center and a new teen center. Renovations include new restrooms, locker rooms, elevator, lobby area and refurbished gymnasium floor.

         Fourteen City-operated swimming pools opened last week, three indoor and eleven outdoor pools. NORDC will facilitate a summer aquatics program that includes water safety and instruction and aqua fitness throughout the City’s recreation centers.
