Lyft Wants Louisiana to Get Out and Vote

NEW ORLEANS, La. – This Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 6), Lyft will help people in New Orleans and Baton Rouge operate their right to vote. The transportation service is offering discounted rides to individuals headed to the polls, in the hopes of increasing the voter turnout.
Voters using Lyft can apply a 50%-off discount via their Lyft app, or on the BuzzFeed website. New Orleans residents can enter code: VOTELA2 and Baton Rouge residents, VOTELA1, to activate their discount.
With past elections, people have cited a lack of transportation as one of the top reasons why they didn't vote. In fact, according to Lyft, more than 15 million people were registered but didn’t vote in 2016 because of transportation issues.
“At Lyft, we’re working to improve lives by connecting people and their communities through the world’s best transportation. This Election Day, we want to help people in New Orleans exercise their right to vote,” said Jessica Inman, marketing manager for Lyft Louisiana. “Every voice is important, and we’re excited to help make them heard in this year’s elections.”
