Lowe, Vail Elected To Kean Miller Partnership In New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Kean Miller announced that Amanda Howard Lowe and Lee Vail have been elected to the partnership effective January 1, 2016.
In addition, Matthew Meiners and Elisabeth Prescott have been elected partners in the Baton Rouge office.
Lowe, a partner in the New Orleans office of Kean Miller, joined the firm in 2009 and practices in the admiralty and maritime, energy and corporate litigation groups. Lowe has considerable experience in a wide variety of admiralty issues, including Jones Act and personal injury defense, maritime litigation, oil and gas exploration, drilling accidents, well blowouts, cargo damage, ship collisions, ship allusions, vessel groundings, lift board and jack-up rig accidents, vessel mortgage filings, product liability, redhibition, as well as premises liability, construction defect litigation and general personal injury litigation.
Lowe earned her B.A. from Loyola University New Orleans in 2003. She earned her J.D., cum laude, in 2009 from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law where she was a member of the Loyola Trial Advocacy National Team and the Trial Advocacy Board, 2008 to 2009. While at Loyola, Lowe was inducted into the National Order of the Barrister, 2009.
Vail, a partner in the New Orleans office of Kean Miller, joined the firm in 2010 and practices in the environmental regulatory, Process Safety Management, emergency response and intellectual property groups. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana and holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. Prior to joining Kean Miller, Vail served as Manager of Environmental Affairs for a worldwide oil and gas company. Vail brings more than 30 years of process engineering, project management, process safety management, and environmental regulatory experience in the petroleum refining industry to the representation of industry clients. His expertise includes sophisticated interaction on behalf of industry clients in connection with regulatory compliance and permitting, Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), RAGAGEP, Process Safety Information (PSI), OSHA, EPA, and CSB investigations, release reporting, incident management, and litigation avoidance. Vail is also a registered Patent Attorney and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Vail earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1978. He earned his M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Tulane University in 1983 and his M.B.A. from the University of New Orleans in 1987. Vail earned his J.D., cum laude, in 2010 from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he was recognized as a Crowe Scholar. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Tulane University in 1990. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lafayette Square Conservancy.
