Local Nonprofit Liberty's Kitchen Appoints New Board Chair

NEW ORLEANS-  Today, Liberty's Kitchen announced their Board Chairperson, Matthew Schwartz, will be transitioning out of his role after ten years of service for the organization. Effective immediately, he will serve on the Advisory Board for Liberty's Kitchen.

Details were shared in a press release.

In addition to his work at Liberty's Kitchen, Schwartz is also well known as the co-chief executive officer of Domain Companies and has long been passionate about local youth and community development. In his tenure at Liberty's Kitchen, he helped lead the organization through tremendous growth and oversaw the development of Liberty's Kitchen new downtown location at 1615 Poydras Street.

"It has been an honor to serve this organization and to work with each and every one of [our board members]. My passion and commitment to Liberty's Kitchen is unwavering," said Schwartz in an email to the Board of Directors. "I look forward to continuing my support for Liberty's Kitchen however I can. Their future is bright, and I look forward to their continued success."

The Board of Directors has appointed Tiffany Harvill as its new chair, and Patrick Bordnick will step in to fill her vacated role as vice chair. Scott Powell and Jeff Good retain their positions as treasurer and secretary, respectively.

Harvill has served on the board of Liberty's Kitchen since 2017. Harvill works as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments and has previously worked in a myriad of organizations, holding a variety of different positions: chief operating officer, financial director, commercial lender, strategy consultant, and public accountant. Harvill is an active member of her community, serving on the board of WWNO Radio, as well as the Faubourg Avart Neighborhood Association.

"I am super excited for the opportunity to serve as the Chairperson of Liberty's Kitchen Board of Directors. Taking the reins at this time is made easier by the groundwork laid by Chairperson Matt Schwartz," said Harvill. "I am truly honored that my fellow Board members have entrusted me with this responsibility. I look forward to supporting Liberty's Kitchen's continued growth and community impact."

Patrick Bordnick, who joined the Board in 2018, serves as the dean of Tulane's School of Social Work. Since joining the board, Bordnick has supported the organization by volunteering at events, assisting with fundraising efforts, and providing guidance on strategy and partnership development.

"Matt Schwartz went above and beyond the call of duty as the Board Chair for Liberty's Kitchen. His commitment and dedication to this organization for the past ten years has been nothing short of commendable," said Dennis Bagneris, CEO of Liberty's Kitchen. "It has been an honor to build and grow this organization with him, and he will always be regarded as a champion for the youth of Liberty's Kitchen and the City of New Orleans. I also could not be happier to have amazing advocates and visionaries like Tiffany, Patrick, Scott, Jeff, and the rest of the Board on our team as we head into an exciting new decade of evolution and progress."
