LEDC – SBA Government Contracting Workshops

WALKER, LA – The Livingston Economic Development Council will host the U.S. Small Business Administration Government Contracting Workshops on Thursday, Jan., 15, 2015, at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Blvd., Walker, LA.

         Organizers say the free event will be a day filled with pertinent information on government contracting programs for minority, economically disadvantaged, women owned and veteran owned businesses.

         There will be 3 sessions and representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Louisiana District Office will be available to answer questions.

         From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the 8(a) Business Development Program Workshop will provide information about the Section 8(a) program and to provide guidance in the completion of the electronic application. The workshop will cover eligibility criteria for Section 8(a) program participation, an overview of the electronic application, a review of the required supporting documentation, a review, explanation and guidance in completing the required SBA Forms (SBA Forms 1010Business, 1010 Individual, 912, 4506T, 413, 1623, 1790) and additional information as needed by the participants.

         From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Workshop is designed to help all small businesses considering HUBZone certification and looking for more information on the HUBZone program. Representatives from U.S. Small Business Administration will introduce your business to the program, help determine whether your business is eligible for the program and support the efforts of your business to participate in the program.

         From 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Woman/ Veteran Owned Small Business (WOSB/ VOSB) Workshop will serve as a guide to women business owners seeking to leverage opportunities available through the federal government to drive revenue growth. Topics to be covered include WOSB Federal government contract set-asides, final WOSB ruling, impact and advantage, eligible NAICS codes, WOSB certification process, identifying contract opportunities, effectively responding to requests for government proposal and completing required registrations.
