LCM Asks for #GivingTuesdayNow Donations

NEW ORLEANS – From the Louisiana Children’s Museum:

Today is #GivingTuesdayNow. This is your chance to support Louisiana Children’s Museum, which has been a steadfast presence for children and families for more than 30 years.

With our doors closed for such an extended period of time, your support is critical – now more than ever.

The public health crisis that COVID-19 has posed has had far-reaching effects. Having our doors closed has taken a profound toll on Louisiana Children’s Museum. We have been forced to rethink how we move forward, how to sustain what we’ve built, and most importantly, how we can continue to deliver our mission of supporting children and families to the community.

Mental Health is always important, but right now it is paramount. As families face the challenges of adjusting to working from home, becoming teachers to their children, and managing family dynamics, Louisiana Children’s Museum is working to deliver practical ways for families to weather this storm:

  • Building Resilience: Parenting During a Pandemic: This living collection of mental health strategies is designed to help parents and caregivers find ways to cope, understand how to practice self-care, and nurture a caregiver’s connection with their child.
  • In Dialogue: A series of live webinars featuring mental health experts who address the various anxieties we are all experiencing, designed for adult caregivers. Find information and helpful tips on how to manage our new realities. Join us Thursdays at 1:30 pm. Calls are recorded and shared on LCM’s YouTube Channel. Log in information is updated weekly and can be found on LCM’s Facebook page.
  • Connections At Home: Virtual enrichment lessons that rely on a child’s natural curiosity as a springboard. These hands-on activities are geared toward children from birth to age eight and explore topics ranging from starting a nature collection to making your own art supplies to building an instrument and more.

Connecting and supporting our community is important to us, but more than that, it is literally our mission. Building Resilience, In Dialogue, and Connections At Home are important vehicles in reaching families during this time of social distancing. Once we reopen, our focus will shift to welcoming our community back to our beautiful campus, where we can play, learn, and connect with you. Until then, help us rebuild by giving your gift today. Thank you for supporting Louisiana Children’s Museum.
