NEW ORLEANS — The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce named ZukaBaby, New Orleans’ only natural parenting boutique, “Woman Owned Business of the Year.”

The award was given to Erin Pelias, founder and owner of ZukaBaby, at the Jefferson Chamber’s annual Business Leadership Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Airport.

Betsy Gamble presented the award, and representatives from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business program were in attendance to congratulate their former participant.

ZukaBaby Metairie Owner Betsy Becker was also present for the award.

“After more than seven years in business and two locations, this is such an honor to be acknowledged by such notable business leaders in our community,” said Pelias. “We are very thankful to the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce for this esteemed award.”

ZukaBaby, a family run and family-friendly business, founded in 2009 by Pelias when her daughter and inspiration for the store was 11-months-old, specializes in cloth diapers, babywearing, breastfeeding, natural toys and organic layette.

Store reps said ZukaBaby is not only a retail store, but also a building point for a community that wants more; more local, natural, unique, affordable options for families.

ZukaBaby has locations Uptown at 5228 Magazine St. with KINDRED Studios, and in Metairie at 3248 Severn Ave. at the Vieux Carre Shopping Center near Lakeside Mall.
