Jazz Half Marathon Participants Running For Kids, Raising Funds For Children’s Hospital Cancer Program

NEW ORLEANS– On Saturday, Oct. 29, Children’s Hospital’s annual Jazz Half Marathon & 5K will begin at 7:00 a.m. and take athletes of all ages from Lafayette Square in downtown New Orleans to Audubon Park Uptown and back. The 5K is a 3.2-mile race run in the downtown area. Race medallions will be presented to all Half Marathon runners and to the first 750 5K race finishers.
Runners will be entertained by local bands, placed every few miles along the route. All participants are invited to the post-race party in Lafayette Square, which will feature live local music by The Danny Alexander Blues Band and Rockin' Dopsie Jr.
Participants are strongly encouraged to pick up their race packets at the Race Expo today, Friday, Oct. 28, at the Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel – Patrons Ballroom, in the Warehouse District. Race day packet pickup will be available at the same location: Renaissance Arts Hotel – Patrons Ballroom, First Floor – 700 Tchoupitoulas St., from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
“The funds raised will help ensure that we are able to provide the best possible care for the hundreds of children with cancer who come to our hospital each year.” said Roger Gorman, Children’s Hospital’s Development Director. “We are fortunate to have so many friends so deeply committed to helping our young patients win their battles against cancer.”
