International ‘Flash Feast’ Dîner En Blanc Returns To New Orleans Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – Dîner en Blanc marks the world's first viral event, a posh picnic imported from Paris and now taking hold in outdoor public spaces on five continents, 20 countries, and 50 cities in 2015. Taking the pop-up concept to a new level, these romantic outdoor Gourmet Feasts are organized entirely via social media, attended annually by tens of thousands of guests in cities and countries around the world.

Dîner en Blanc is coming back to New Orleans for the 4th consecutive year on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. Last year’s event occurred at Spanish Plaza, with about 2,000 guests, and this year’s event is expected to host 3,000 guests at a secret New Orleans spot.

Part mystery, part magic, part flash feast, part je ne sais quoi, the day of the event unfolds the same in every city. The site is revealed at the last-minute to preserve spontaneity and secrecy. Guests are directed to meet in groups at pick-up points where organizers will escort them by foot or bus transportation to the nearby location. There will be pick-up points throughout the metro area including Kenner, New Orleans East, Mandeville, Downtown and the Westbank. All attendees are required to wear white, bring their own gourmet feasts, tables, chairs, glasses, silverware and white linen.

Picnickers pay a $45 admission fee, which covers location fees, guest transportation to and from the secret location, live entertainment including local bands and artists, photo booth and much more. Throughout the course of the evening, attendees will not only celebrate and dine amid live music; there will be dancing and other surprises. When it is time to leave, guests will pack their dinnerware and tables, gather all their debris and head into the night, leaving no sign of their elegant revelry left behind.
