Though you may not know the term “value chain,” businesses, individuals, and communities benefit every day from their roles within and around it. A value chain is a set of activities that a business performs in order to deliver a good and/or service to the marketplace – specifically, it involves the acquisition and consumption of resources: money, labor, materials, equipment, buildings, land, administration and management.

As a commercial roofing company with projects spanning across the southeast, RYCARS Construction employs hundreds of people through its own fabrication and roofing operations. Additionally, with every commercial roofing project, a value chain of professionals, vendors, and trades are put into motion through RYCARS Construction’s purchase and acquisition of vast quantities of goods and services in each community.

Each commercial roofing project RYCARS undertakes has its own network of components within the value chain of the construction industry. A typical commercial roofing project consists of professionals, specialty tradesmen, goods, equipment rentals, and services. All of the following components are coordinated to complete one commercial roofing project:

  • Professionals: architect, construction manager, roofing consultant, project manager, contract administrator, roofing superintendent, foreman, sheet metal mechanic, banker, accountant, insurance agent, bond agent
  • Specialty Tradesmen: plumbers, electricians, HVAC, lightning protection
  • Goods: asphalt, lumber, adhesives, fasteners, roll goods, diesel, gasoline, insulation, paint, steel, aluminum
  • Equipment Rentals: forklift, aerial lift
  • Services: trash disposal, portable toilets, temporary fencing

At any given time, RYCARS is simultaneously managing more than 20 projects in six states. The company prides itself on the impact it has on the US economy via the commercial roofing value chain within the multi-billion-dollar commercial roofing industry.
