Grow St. Bernard Seminar Series To Assist Local Businesses, Startups

CHALMETTE, LA – The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) and The St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce have released information about “Grow St. Bernard,” a new, joint program developed to support St. Bernard Parish’s increasing base of locally owned businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs. The organizations identified a need to provide new and evolving businesses with information necessary to start and grow business in the current market.

“St. Bernard Parish has seen an uptick in startup and small business development in recent years,” said Andrew Jacques, executive director of SBEDF. “Often these companies, especially in the beginning stages, would benefit from a program that dives into specific aspects of running a business.  This includes hearing details about business planning, marketing, tax liability, sales, and other factors that individuals may not have experience in.”

Grow St. Bernard is a six-part seminar series that provides professional insight on a variety of topics in the form of presentations, panels, and workshops. Notable guest speakers will provide business owners and professionals with knowledge of current trends and best practices for growing their companies with limited resources and staffing.

Participation is open to all individuals regardless of location or occupation. The program encourages business owners and professionals to turn information into action; and participants benefit from learning and sharing with a cohort of small businesses.

“It is our intention to provide St. Bernard Parish’s future and growing businesses with the practical skills needed to succeed,” said Stephen Reuther, CEO of the St. Bernard Chamber. “Grow St. Bernard will provide valuable knowledge to its participants through programming, but additionally, these businesses will learn from each other as they complete the series as a group.”

Tuition for the program is $50 and includes access to the seminars and a special recognition of all businesses that complete the program. All seminars will take place on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. with locations TBD. Enrollment for the 2017 cohort is now open and the first seminar is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 4.
