Groovin’ Again Announces Cancer Patient Book, Game Drive
NEW ORLEANS – During treatment, cancer patients spend several days and even weeks in the hospital. Days can be long and filled with anxiety and boredom. That is why Groovin’ Again is organizing a book and game drive from Saturday, July 1 – Thursday, Aug. 31.
Groovin’ Again is a newly founded New Orleans nonprofit dedicated to bringing a sense of joy, hope, health and empowerment to those who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Groovin' Again reps said they want to help patients create happy and positive memories so that patients aren’t always focused on the a diagnosis, the treatment, the battle or being in the hospital.
Groovin’ Again is seeking donations of new or gently used games and books to be enjoyed by adult cancer patients and their visitors. Groovin’ Again reps said they are are trying to collect enough books and games to fill up mobile carts for adult oncology floors at three local hospitals including:
• Fiction and nonfiction titles of all genres for adults
• Activity books (crosswords, word searches, Sudoku)
• Card games, puzzles and board games
