GNO, Inc. Opens Registration For 2016 Super-Region Canvas Workshop: Panama – A Tale Of Two Coasts

NEW ORLEANS – Greater New Orleans, Inc. has opened registration for the 2016 Canvas Workshop to Panama City, Panama.

Every 18 months, the Southeast Super-Region embarks upon a Canvas Workshop to another major metro area to learn best practices from other “super-regions,” such as Phoenix-Tucson and Tampa-Orlando. With the country of Panama selected for 2016 – the first-ever international canvas – Louisiana leaders will explore the relationship of the cosmopolitan south [Panama City] with the industrial north [Colon], connected of course, by the Panama Canal.

GNO, Inc. reps said Panama, recently named #1 City to Visit in the World by The New York Times, is a diverse international metropolis, characterized with vibrancy, economic growth and opportunities for partnerships with the businesses and communities of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.

Reps with GNO, Inc., the Baton Rouge Area Chamber [BRAC], and South LA Economic Council [SLEC], which together form the Southeast Super-Region Committee [SRC], said they are thrilled to offer this new experience that expands the Canvas Workshop platform, with an international theme.

The dates for the Super-Region Canvas Workshop are September 20 – September 23, 2016 and the cost of the trip is $2,300 per guest.

About 90 business, community and elected leaders from Greater New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and the Bayou Region are expected to participate.

The workshop’s economic focus areas will include:

• Transportation and trade, including the Panama Canal, the Colon Free Trade Zone, and the Panama Railway

• Opportunities in education, innovation and entrepreneurship throughout Panama including the University of Panama, and the City of Knowledge

• Redevelopment, beautification and community improvement strategies such as the investment in and development of the Old City – Casco Viejo; and one of the largest mixed use redevelopment projects in the world – Panama Pacifico

• Synergies between Louisiana and Panama including the corporate and cultural presence we share
