Gambel Communications Welcomes New Communications Strategist

NEW ORLEANS  – New Orleans-based public relations firm Gambel Communications announced that April Catarella has joined the team as a communications strategist. 

Catarella’s responsibilities as a communications strategist include media relations, social media, community relations, and special event planning and management for clients in a variety of industries. She will represent Boys Town Louisiana, Access Health Louisiana and Jefferson Ready Start Network.

 A New Orleans native, Catarella graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. An avid sports fan, she began her marketing career working in minor league sports, first for the Louisiana IceGators hockey team in Lafayette, then for the Montgomery Biscuits, the Tampa Bay Rays’ Double-A baseball affiliate in Montgomery, Ala.

Returning home to New Orleans, Catarella served as the executive director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, building awareness, executing special events and developing client relationships across Louisiana. She also served as Einstein Charter Schools’ Communications Manager, aiding in branding and communications strategies as the network opened three new schools over two years.

Catarella is a member of the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans, having graduated from their YLC Leadership Development Series. She is also a board member of the Swollfest Fishing Rodeo held in Grand Isle every June, which benefits children’s charities and military families.
