Gambel Communications Promotes Announces New Director of Public Relations

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans-based public relations firm Gambel Communications announces that Gretchen Hirt Gendron, APR has been promoted to director of public relations of Gambel Communications, effective immediately. The announcement was made in a press release.

Gendron joined Gambel in 2012 and most recently held the position of senior communications strategist. As director of public relations, Gendron leads strategy and business development and assists with management of the firm, as well as day to day client work. Additionally, she is an established leader in advancing philanthropy in Greater New Orleans. Gendron was also recently named the 2018 Senior Practitioner by the Southern Public Relations Federation.

“Gretchen is a seasoned communications professional with deep roots in the region,” said Betsie Gambel, president of Gambel Communications. “Her extensive experience in public relations, community service and nonprofit initiatives makes her well-suited for her new role as director of public relations.”

Gendron holds a bachelor of arts in theater and mass communication from Loyola University New Orleans. In 2017, Gendron successfully completed the Examination for Accreditation in public relations, entitling her to use the APR professional designation. She currently serves as president of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana – New Orleans Chapter. She has served on the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) board and the Public Relations Association of Louisiana – State Chapter board.

Gendron graduated from the 2013 Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum, the 2014 Junior League of New Orleans’ Get on Board Training Program, the 2015 Leadership Jefferson program and the 2016-2017 New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI). 

She is a frequent speaker at local universities and professional organizations discussing topics including public relations and social media; and is regularly seen on WVUE-TV (Fox 8) sharing social media and app trends and tips with viewers. According to Gendron, whether she is handling communications efforts for a nonprofit organization, serving at her local church, or volunteering around the globe, she absolutely loves giving back.
