French Quarter Traffic Study Underway

NEW ORLEANS — On Tuesday, April 4, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works will host a public meeting to collect feedback from residents and business owners on potential changes to vehicular traffic flow in the French Quarter at St. Jude Community Center, 400 N. Rampart St., at 6:00 p.m.

Updating traffic flow is an essential part of Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s Citywide Public Safety Improvement Program, a nearly $40 million package of public safety and homeland security investments that will help increase safety in New Orleans, City reps said.

The city commissioned the Downtown Traffic Condition Analysis, a comprehensive traffic study, in 2016 to optimize traffic flow in the French Quarter and Central Business District. This meeting is the fourth public input session the city will host prior to releasing the proposed changes to existing traffic patterns.
