FestiGals To Host Women’s Celebration And Empowerment Day On June 12

NEW ORLEANS – As part of the FestiGals Weekend, an event rooted in the idea that women coming together to inspire, lead and encourage each other is a powerful experience, there will be an Empowerment Day with a series of sessions designed to challenge women to find their power within on Friday, June 12, from 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the JW Marriott, 614 Canal St.
“Heels on the Ground: Women Who Created a Storm of Change after Katrina” is a breakfast session that kicks off the day and features Anne Milling, Denise Thornton, and Councilwoman LaToya Cantrell, all women who played pivotal roles in the rebuilding of New Orleans after Katrina. Now, 10 years later these women are still “digging in their heels” to continue to inspire and motivate women to be leaders in the Crescent City. The personal and professional development day also features inspiring seminars with top speakers and a dynamic luncheon presentation by Daily Success Expert Dayna Steele.
FestiGals is a New Orleans-based women’s weekend that takes bonding time to a new level. In its fifth year, the all-inclusive weekend, from Thursday, June 11 through Sunday, June 14, 2015, is a time for women to exchange business cards and ideas, as well as bond over craft cocktails and partake in traditional New Orleans revelry. The event welcomes a diverse group of women from all over the country.
FestiGals brings together women to inspire change from within each individual and attendees include stay-at-home mothers to young professionals, top executives to retirees. To reach and inspire such a diverse group, FestiGals assembles a range and depth of speakers.
Organizers say no matter what women are trying to achieve, the speakers are hand selected to inspire, motivate and help women attending reach their highest potential personally and professionally.
FestiGals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting, educating and inspiring women through seminars and events that empower, showcase the culture of New Orleans, and raise awareness and resources for targeted women's causes.
The annual event held in New Orleans is produced by Diane B. Lyons, DMCP, CMP and ACCENT on Arrangements, Inc., a DMC Network Company.
In its first year in 2011, FestiGals attracted more than 150 women, and in 2014 attendance grew to nearly 1,500 women from across the country. The New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce all endorse this unique women's celebration.
Collectively, FestiGals primary fundraising initiative "Bodacious Bras for a Cause" has raised over $55,000 for targeted women's causes.
