Fairgrounds Triangle Neighborhood Association To Host City Council Candidate Forum

NEW ORLEANS – The Fairgrounds Triangle Neighborhood Association (FTNA), with community partner DeSaix Area Neighborhood Association (DANA) and residents of the 7th Ward, St. Bernard, Esplanade Ridge and Treme, is hosting a City Council candidate forum Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Langston Hughes Elementary School, 3519 Trafalgar St., at 6:00 p.m.
Candidates for New Orleans City Council District D and At Large positions will discuss their platforms and plans for their respective terms, should they win during this fall’s elections.
Fairgrounds Triangle resident Julius Kimbrough Jr. will serve as moderator and will present pre-submitted questions from the FTNA and community to the candidates.
With many issues facing the area, including the recent flooding on Aug. 5, the city’s crime rate and infrastructure needs, FTNA leadership saw an opportunity to bring the candidates together to discuss their plans with neighborhood citizens, organizers said.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and street parking will be available on Trafalgar Street.
Questions may be submitted in advance here: ftnaboard@hotmail.com
Due to time constraints, all questions submitted may not be asked, but all efforts will be made to include them in the forum, organizers said.
