EO Louisiana Takes Home Global Award for Membership Growth
NEW ORLEANS – After a year that saw exponential growth for the Louisiana chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization, membership chair Mark Lewis has been honored with the 2019 Global Membership Recruitment Excellence Award.
Details were shared in a press release.
This global award is presented annually to one membership chair who, through innovation and determination, effectively sought out the future leaders of EO. Factors contributing to the recipient’s selection include efficiency and documentation of member qualification and recruitment, creative use of resources, results-to-date and the membership chair’s complete participation.
Lewis and the rest of his chapter were honored with the award at the 2019 Global Leadership Conference, which took place from April 12 to April 15 in Macau, China. Although Lewis was not present, fellow EO Louisiana member Stan Prutz accepted the award on behalf of his chapter, marking the pinnacle of a year-long effort to increase membership growth, retention and engagement.
In his application for the award, Lewis detailed the specific steps he and his chapter employed to achieve such positive results.
“It’s important to understand that no individual person or recruitment activity can get you the results you want,” Lewis said. “It takes many people and many activities, and all have been a contributing draw for our chapter’s growth. Plus, we have a great Board and leadership team that has really led to our success.”
The programs and activities Lewis listed as main contributors include partnerships with multiple organizations like Louisiana Economic Development and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. Both of these efforts, in addition to other collaborations, helped to increase visibility and to incentivize membership, among other benefits. EO Louisiana also led an initiative to share their story across several mediums: the chapter created an online video treatment highlighting their mission and published a member spotlight series in Biz New Orleans.
“The job that Mark has done this year is extraordinary,” said Erik Frank, president of EO Louisiana. “Our chapter has added more new members in the past 6 months than we did in the previous 6 years. The reason for the success really comes down to one word: passion. Mark is more passionate about EO then almost anyone else, and that is who Mark is. He displays this same type of passion for his kids, his wife, Elizabeth, and his business. And it's Mark's passion that has been the catalyst for our success.”
Since applying for the award, Lewis and EO Louisiana have welcomed eight additional members, bringing their growth rate up to 53% since July 1, 2018 — with more members, initiatives and improvements sure to come.
